Over 20 years teaching Mindfulness and the Enneagram . . .
Rob has worked for decades with a wide variety of meditative practices, concentrating for over 30 years on mindfulness meditation in the Vipassana tradition, mindful inquiry, and the Enneagram. He is a founding member and a senior teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW) and pioneered the first Kalyana Mitta (Spiritual Friends) group there in 1996. He has been teaching meditation, both with groups and one-on-one, for over 20 years.
Rob is certified as an Enneagram teacher and has led Enneagram courses and groups for over twelve years. He is currently writing a book, The Mindful Enneagram, based on the course he began teaching in 2021 that integrates Buddhist practices with working with one's Enneagram type.
Before teaching meditation, Rob began as a telecommunications and IT engineer and project manager, then evolved into an organization development consultant and professional facilitator. He also studied to be an ordained United Methodist minister and created and led innovative coming-of-age programs for youth in churches for many years. He began teaching meditation after completing the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leader program in 2003.
Rob has extensive experience in introducing meditation, interpersonal mindful inquiry and dialogue, the Enneagram, and other spiritual practices in many diverse settings, including businesses, non-profits, government, schools, and churches. He is the co-founder of the Meditation Community of Herndon/Reston and leads regular meditation groups, classes, and retreats in Northern Virginia and online through IMCW and Banyan. Rob is also active with the Claymont Society for Continuous Education in Gurdjieff’s Fourth Way tradition. For many years he has worked with and served on the Board and, in recent years, co-designed and co-led several innovative educational programs there, including the Fourth Way Course of Study and Spiritual Permaculture Intern Program.
